What is SafeCyclist?

The Oklahoma SafeCyclist Program (OSCP) is modeled after the BikeTexas SuperCyclist program.  It is a comprehensive safety education program focusing on bicycle and pedestrian safety for 4th through 6th grade students.  The OSCP toolkit is a bicycle and pedestrian safety curriculum designed to be taught in the classroom by qualified SafeCyclist teachers.

The SafeCyclist curriculum introduces lessons that enable teachers to combine bicycling and pedestrian curriculum with Math, Science, English and Art lessons.  This curriculum has been aligned with Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS).

The OSCP is an Oklahoma Department of Transportation's Safe Routes to School initiative and was funded in part by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
