Do inmates have to pay any cost for their incarceration or any services they receive during incarceration?
Those inmates assigned to Work Release and actually receiving a pay check are charged the daily per diem rate of the center or halfway house to which they are housed, not to exceed 50% of their salary. No other inmates are charged for their incarceration. The only service for which inmates are charged is a $2.00 medical co-payment in accordance with OP-140117. This charge is only for inmate initiated requests for medical, dental, or optometric service and for each medication issued during an inmate initiated clinic visit. No inmate will be refused health care because of their financial status. For more information, visit the ODOC web page. Under ?Quick Links,? click ?Procedures,? then click ?Policies 14?, and then click ?OP-140117.?
