Orson Welles? Touch of Evil was the first feature film to screen in the Art Museum's Noble Theater on April 12, 2002, with a special introduction by the late Janet Leigh. From its infamous opening shot (which lasts over three minutes) to Marlene Dietrich?s memorable final line of dialogue, this tale of murder and police corruption is a film noir masterpiece. As the corpulent cop Hank Quinlan (Welles) who may be involved in a border-town murder, he faces opposition from narcotics officer Ramon Vargas (Charlton Heston) whose wife Susan (Janet Leigh) is abducted and held as the pawn in a struggle between Vargas quest for truth and Quinlan?s control of carefully hidden secrets.
