Oklahoma City Museum of Art 415 Couch Dr. Oklahoma City, OK
Opening the Museum of Art's French cinema series will be a beautifully restored version of George M?li?s? classic film A Trip to the Moon followed by the new documentary The Extraordinary Voyage. First released in 1902, A Trip to the Moon is the whimsical tale of pioneering astronauts. M?li?s? himself hand-painted every frame of the film in lavish color, but that print was considered lost. Now the masterpiece has been found and is presented for the first time in color with a new score by the French band Air. The documentary The Extraordinary Voyage features appearances by Costa Gavras, Michel Gondry, Martin Scorsese, Tom Hanks, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Michel Hazanavicius and chronicles the incredible journey that A Trip to the Moon has taken over the years from its initial production in 1902, to the recent rediscovery of the colored print, to its premiere at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
