Marking the fifteenth collaboration between director Akira Kurosawa and actor Toshiro Mifune, High and Low is considered one of the greatest works in both of their careers. Mifune plays Kingo Gondo, a shoe company executive who stands to lose his fortune when a kidnapper abducts his chauffeur?s son and demands Kingo pay the ransom. The movie has had enormous influence on later crime stories, particularly those that deal with police procedurals.
