"Denise Bode comes to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission after serving as President and Chief Operating Officer of the 68 year old Independent Petroleum Association of America. Denise is the first woman to hold the office of IPAA president and has served in that post since 1991. Denise developed the IPAA into one of America’s premier trade associations representing 8,000 natural gas and oil producers in the United States," Keating added.
"Prior to her service at the IPAA Denise was a founding partner and Tax Counsel of Gold and Liebengood, Inc., of Washington, DC, where she practiced law for seven years on behalf of clients such as the Equitable Life Insurance company, the National Football League, Phillips Petroleum Company, Times-Mirror Corporation, MCI Communications, the National Restaurant Association, the National Cattlemen’s Association, Salomon Brothers, Inc., Pacific Enterprises Corporation, and the American Medical Association. From 1979 to 1984 Denise served as the Tax Counsel for Senator David Boren where she was responsible for all issues before the Senate Finance Committee dealing with tax, employee benefits, environment, banking and trade issues. She also served from May 1976 until January of 1979 as Governor David Boren’s Administrative Assistant for Natural Resources," said Keating.

Denise Bode brief biography
Denise Bode was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Bartlesville. In 1977 she married John Bode, a partner in a Washington, DC law firm and former Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for Food and Consumer Services in the Reagan and Bush administrations. The Bodes have a 14 year old son, Sean. She graduated with a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma in 1976. She received a Juris Doctorate from the George Mason University School of Law in 1982 and a Masters of Law in Taxation from Georgetown University School of Law in 1985. Denise is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association. She also serves on the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Board of Trustees, the Mountain States Legal Foundation Board of Directors, the Key Industry Association Council, the Environmental Issues Council, and is the Past President of the Tax Coalition. She also has been appointed to a two-year term representing the oil and gas industry on the advisory committee to the Coast Guard, the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee.
