As you sip your coffee and flip through the electronic edition of the morning paper at your favorite coffee house, the last thing on your mind is danger lurking on the other end of the WiFi connection. Not only your computer but your entire company’s network may be the unsuspecting prey of a hacker.

Teddy Wyatt and his team at Brushfire Technologies in Broken Arrow are creating FireBreak, a network security product that will stop hackers in their tracks. “Malware” can easily invade your laptop through any wireless internet connection. When you reconnect to the network, the malware and hacker will have access to company computer files. Current security products only protect certain points of a system, but FireBreak can monitor all system traffic, thereby isolating and eliminating every threat.

This Oklahoma-grown product will provide much needed security to small business owners, campuses and multi-site enterprises throughout the U.S. at a lower price than existing technology. Brushfire Technologies is also collaborating with the Department of Defense on national security applications.
