Foreign Candidates Examination Information and Educational Evaluation Process

To sit for the CPA examination as an Oklahoma candidate, you must be a resident of this state immediately prior to filing your application as required by Section 15.8.A of the Oklahoma Accountancy Act. Examples of such substantiation could include documentation as to place of residence, copies of Oklahoma tax returns, college or university enrollment, employment, etc.

If you satisfy the Oklahoma residence requirement and you were educated at a university located outside the United States, it will be necessary to have your education evaluated to determine whether it is equivalent to the education which the State of Oklahoma requires to qualify for the CPA examination. Below is a list of entities recognized by the Oklahoma Accountancy Board as able to evaluate the education of applicants. The evaluation process may take several weeks to complete. In addition to the $50.00 non-refundable application fee paid to the OAB, the applicant must pay the costs associated with the evaluation directly to the entity that provides the evaluation.

You must contact the evaluation service directly to request detailed information about their required forms, procedures and costs of the evaluation. The cost of evaluation may vary dependant on the provider you choose. After the evaluation service has reviewed your official transcripts, the service must issue a report containing a detailed assessment to determine if your education meets the requirements set forth in Section 15.8.C of the Oklahoma Accountancy Act.

After you receive the report from the evaluation service you must send the original report with your application to sit for the CPA examination to the OAB along with the transcript(s), which were evaluated by the service. Please note that the OAB must receive the original report. Photocopies of evaluation reports are not accepted.
