Oklahoma State Department of Health’s Selected as one of the nation’s best state government internal projects “It is great to see the recognition for this innovative system,” said Oklahoma’s State Health Commissioner Dr. Terry Cline. “Step Up allows us to appropriately measure our progress toward goals and to make any needed changes to improve our performance over time.” “Indeed, Step UP, through digital technology, has allowed our services, programs and employees to chart their progress toward positive outcomes that ultimately benefit our customers,” said Joyce Marshall, director for OSDH’s Office of Performance Management. The Step UP Performance Management System was created to give OSDH service areas a defined system to promote thoughtful planning and decision-making toward creating programmatic goals and objectives; enhance the development of innovative activities and strategies for meeting those objectives; and assure periodic measurement of quantifiable performance measures important to achieving the selected goals and objectives. “The Step UP Performance Management System represents the best in government internal projects,” said Cathilea Robinett, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. “Each year, state and local governments continue to make strides towards implementing better access and more efficient Web delivery of public services.” Each year the Center for Digital Government’s Digital Government Achievement Awards recognize outstanding agency and department websites and projects at the application and infrastructure level. This is just one way the organization continues its work as an international research and advisory institute on the use of information technology in government. The Step UP Performance Management System is a product of a partnership between the Oklahoma State Department of Health and OK.gov, Oklahoma’s Official Website.
