New Orleans, LA –While attending the NAIC Spring 2012 National Meeting, Commissioner John D. Doak announced the creation of a new mobile phone App for the Oklahoma Insurance Department. “This App is the first ever of its kind for any insurance department and it will give Oklahoma companies, agents and consumers a new avenue in which to find resources and communicate needs,” Doak stated.

The new mobile phone App offered by the Oklahoma Insurance Department will allow consumers to research companies and agents, making sure that they are licensed to do business in the state. The App will also allow agents to check their continuing education credits and make sure they are up to date on industry news.

“My administration has always striven to meet the needs of the citizens of Oklahoma and its insurance professionals and this new innovation takes us one step closer.” stated Doak.

A highlighted feature of the new mobile phone App is the ability for consumers to download a home inventory program.  This feature will allow citizens to create inventories of their possessions through photographs and assess estimated prices on those items in case of damage or theft.

The Oklahoma Insurance Department seeks ways to empower insurance consumers and make our office more accessible to the public.  “I am happy that the OID can bring this App to the public and I look forward to hearing from people on this new avenue of communication.”

Oklahoma City, OK—Oklahoma Lt. Governor Todd Lamb is joining with Google to announce the Oklahoma launch of Google for Veterans and Families, which is an online toolbox for veterans and returning soldiers.  The announcement coincides with the return of Oklahoma's 45th Infantry from Afghanistan.

Googleforveterans.com is a website that was designed by the Google Veteran Network, the company’s employee community of veterans, reservists, guardsman, family members and supporters, who have first-hand experience with the challenge of serving, coming home and transitioning into civilian life. The site includes tools such as Google’s Resume Builder, a 3D Tour Builder, video transition tips and Vet Connect for Google +.

Google has established a veterans channel at www.youtube.com/veterans where individuals can share their thanks by video with veterans who have served—or are serving—our country both here at home and overseas.   The videos are organized by state, which lets thankful Oklahomans communicate directly with Oklahoma vets, active-duty service men and women, and the soldiers of the 45th Infantry.

“I am proud to work with Google on this meaningful and thoughtful initiative to honor our service men and women, many of whom are far away from home,” Lamb said. “In Oklahoma, we hold the highest respect and appreciation for our soldiers and officers who serve in the military. Our fellow Oklahomans who have volunteered to serve our country deserve our thanks for protecting our country.”  

Google opened a data center in Pryor, Oklahoma this past summer where several veterans are employed.

"Google is part of the community here and we want to thank the men and women of the 45th, and their families, for their sacrifices over the past year," commented Mike Wooten, operations manager at the facility.  "We’re glad we can leverage our technology to help members of the Oklahoma National Guard, and we hope all of the returning soldiers take advantage of the tools available through Google for Veterans and Families."

Oklahoma City, OK - Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak today revealed his department’s newly updated website at www.oid.ok.gov. The Oklahoma Insurance Department’s (OID) new site features a renewed template layout consistent with the recent Oklahoma Governor’s website helping to provide a trusted experience for citizens and Oklahoma’s insurance regulated entities since visitors will always know they are visiting an official government site.  

“With our new website, we are aiming to connect further with the citizens of Oklahoma and our regulated entities because the Insurance Department has many valuable services we provide online,” said Doak. “Many of those services are provided directly off our homepage.”  

Additional features of the website include:  

• Six rotating banners providing highlighted areas of the site: www.oid.ok.gov. 
• More prominent and enhanced search and share tools located at the top of the page. 
• Video features linking back to the new OID YouTube channel showcasing consumer related insurance tips. 
• Live feed of OID’s twitter account and other social media connectivity. 
• The ability for consumers and regulated entities to subscribe to many of the department’s communications. 
• Icons that showcase important areas of the website including home inventory checklist, online speaker request form, outstanding insurance professional award nomination form, information for seniors, and insurance tips for auto, home, health, life, annuity and businesses. 
• Quick links section which provides consumers, agents and producers, and other regulated entities with the information they seek directly off the homepage. 
• Online services that allow consumers to report fraud, file an insurance complaint, take an online insurance IQ quiz, verify an agent, and take OID “On the Go”. 
• Online services that allow agents and producers to print a license, view CE transcripts, and update physical and email addresses online. 
• Provides the ability for regulated entities to access bulletins, regulations, important forms and much more. 
• New section of the website helping consumers prepare insurance wise for Oklahoma’s many natural disasters at www.prepare.oid.ok.gov.
