State of Oklahoma Surplus Bargains Available Online Bargains can be found online through the state of Oklahoma by logging onto http://www.Auction.OK.gov. Visitors can find anything from knives to bulldozers and classic cars to refrigerators. By registering for an account, users can place a bid or maximum bid on items and monitor the status of their bids without leaving home. Auction.OK.gov is the state’s online state surplus property auction site that enables visitors to place bids and make secure online payments for Oklahoma’s state surplus property. Registered users of the system can also subscribe to email notifications for similar items of those that they are bidding on and add items to a customized “watch” list. “Auction.OK.gov has proven to be an important factor for us in moving state surplus because items are much more visible to the public, both to bidders in Oklahoma and around the world,” said Gerry Ann Smedley, Public Information Officer for the Department of Central Services. “The online service also allows state entities from around Oklahoma to provide us with pictures and descriptions of surplus items without ever having to ship them to our main surplus warehouse in Oklahoma City, which helps move items more efficiently through the disposal process and eliminates the need for a large warehouse.” The online auction has been live since May of 2005 and has more than 7,900 registered bidders. In 2008, online sales constituted for approximately 24% of total sales. Auction.OK.gov accepts Visa, MasterCard, or debit card for winning bid payments. The payments are processed through a secure payment engine, which abides by rigorous policies and procedures to ensure that vendors can be confident that their payments are safe, private, and secure. Auction.OK.gov is a product of a partnership between the Department of Central Services and OK.gov, Oklahoma’s Official Web site.
Oklahoma State Parks Unveil New Online Reservation System Visitors planning a trip to the Oklahoma State Park system can now book cabins, cottages and lodge rooms online. The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department recently unveiled the Cabin and Lodge Online Reservation System that will allow park visitors to book rooms up to 11 months in advance. OTRD officials believe this service will offer visitors more ease and convenience when it comes to their park stay. “The online reservation system is another service we are proud to offer to our park visitors,” said Hardy Watkins, Executive Director of OTRD. “This feature will allow visitors to book a room at any time, and not just during normal business hours.” The reservation system features cabins, cottages and lodge rooms at the following state parks:
The Web site shows multiple views of each facility, and allows you to select a specific cabin or room. As people look at planning vacations for the summer or into the fall, the new system allows them to check options in one location. “Our cabins and lodge rooms are extremely popular on the weekends and during the summer travel season,” said Watkins. “The online reservation system gives visitors an opportunity to view the availability of lodging options as they plan getaways.” In addition to booking rooms online, visitors still have the option of calling (800) 654-8240 to make room reservations.
Oklahoma’s New Production Guide Coming Soon The Oklahoma Film & Music Office is pleased to announce that on August 4 the Oklahoma Film and Video Production Guide will be transformed. With the recent increase in Oklahoma’s rebate has come an increase in the number of productions interested in filming here. The film industry as a whole will now be highlighted through the use of a new, user-friendly database, Reel-Crew. Beginning August 4, Oklahoma crew and support services will be able to register for the new and improved guide. Reel-Crew will allow local crew and support services to register on-line, create their own profiles, and continue to access the user interface to add more recent credits or update contact information, ensuring the database remains current. Users can also link to their IMDB profile and upload a resume. Productions filming in Oklahoma or considering filming in Oklahoma will use the production guide to find qualified crew in the state in order to hire them to work on projects. Reel-Crew has a very friendly user interface for both crew members and those looking to hire crew. Oklahoma is one of only ten state film commissions currently implementing the state-of-the-art system, and OF&MO is thrilled that this tool will be used to help grow the film industry in the state.
