Nearly 60,000 Oklahoma Professionals Conduct Licensing Services Online Oklahoma physicians, nurses, real estate agents, and home inspectors are just a few of the more than 120 types of professional licensing services available online. During the first seven months of 2009, nearly 60,000 professionals applied for or renewed their license(s) online, representing an increase of 26 percent from 2008. "The increase in online adoption is proof that we are responding appropriately to requests for streamlined access to government services," said Mark Mitchell, General Manager of OK.gov. "In the upcoming year, we plan to add many more state agencies to our list of online professional licensures." Since January 2007, online licensing services participating in the ‘Go Green Oklahoma’ study have reduced paper consumption amongst state agencies by over 550,000 sheets of paper. ‘Go Green Oklahoma’ is a study available at http://GoGreen.OK.gov showcasing how Oklahoma eGovernment is helping to reduce the carbon footprint by reducing paper consumption and citizen travel to government facilities.
New Online Searches Provide Useful Tools for the Science & Technology Industries The Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) recently launched a new Web site, Service Provider Network and Online Intern Database available on their Web site. The site features audio broadcasts, online registration for workshops, service providers, solicitation listings and internship opportunities in technology. Other resources for researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs also are available. “Science and technology are critical to the future of Oklahoma,” said Michael Carolina, OCAST executive director. “We built our new Web site with a focus on providing visitors with useful tools for new ideas in technology-based economic development.” The Service Provider Network enables visitors to find qualified third-party resources to develop innovative and advanced technology ideas, management services, processes or products and build commercial enterprises. The Online Intern Database provides an avenue to increase science and technology education and experience for college students and faculty members in Oklahoma. Students have the opportunity to be connected with a potential future employer. The new system provides services for students, faculty and businesses. Advantages include the following:
OCAST launched their new Web site utilizing OK.gov’s Content Management System. The site is designed to meet and exceed Oklahoma’s Web accessibility standards. The OCAST Web site, Service Provider Network, and Online Intern Database are products of a partnership between OCAST and OK.gov, Oklahoma’s Official Web site.
Oklahoma Employment Security Commission Launches New Web Site A new look, easier navigation, faster content control and a new Web site address has accompanied the new Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) Web site. At the new OESC Web site, visitors can easily: • search for jobs; • file for unemployment benefits; • find qualified workers; • view labor market statistics; • learn about unemployment insurance; • and find information about employment and training. “The system we use to build and update our Web site gives us more content control and allows us to update our content much more quickly than our previous means,” said John Carpenter, OESC Public Information Officer. “It is a great advantage, because we can communicate with our public in an instant with just a click of a mouse.” OESC launched their new Web site utilizing OK.gov’s Content Management System. The site is designed to meet and exceed Oklahoma’s web accessibility standards, as well as have a common look and feel as many other Oklahoma government Web sites. OESC invites Oklahoma citizens to visit their new Web site and learn more about employment and training, unemployment benefits, labor market data, and much more. |
