Oklahoma Municipal Court Reporting System Wins Innovator of the Year Award The Oklahoma Municipal Court Reporting System, a collaborative effort between the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and OK.gov, was recognized as an Innovator of the Year at the 11th Annual Journal Record Awards Ceremony. The online system allows Oklahoma municipal courts to report traffic convictions to DPS, which is mandated by Federal law and beginning in October 2008 must be entered within 10 days of conviction. Prior to the Municipal Court Reporting System, municipal courts entered all information through a paper intensive process which resulted in high error rates and slow completion. The reporting tool eliminates paper usage, time constraints and decreased the high error rates associated with the paper process from 10 – 15% to 1 – 4%. "The creation of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Web site by OK.gov for the use by all Oklahoma Municipal Court Clerks has been of enormous benefit to our agency," stated DPS Commissioner, Kevin Ward. "The technology now used to expediently receive accurate driver license convictions and suspensions has dramatically reduced the previous high error rate and allows these convictions to be entered on a driver's record in a timely manner." DPS estimates an average savings of $12,000 a year in printing, mailing and shipping. In addition, DPS is now processing about 3,500 citations a month through the system, which allows for an estimated 60 full time employee hours saved. This provides about a $9,500 dollar savings each year in employee hours.
Oklahoma County Assessor Unveils Web Site Updates “The new changes have been tested and will be available for everyone who has Internet access, or those who come to our office and use our computers. We know these improvements will be a big hit because in some instances these changes were suggested by the citizens who use our Web site more than 12 million times a year,” said Leonard Sullivan, Oklahoma County Assessor. Tax increment financing district maps, more detailed railroad maps and new street details are now available as data-image layers. Plus, three (3) enhanced toolboxes which crunch all that data making the Web site easier to navigate for users. “The new updates will provide greater access to different layers of property records that have never before been available, including the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts and never-seen-before one (1) foot-pixel-high-resolution-aerial-images. Also included is a new center-line street layer that can be used for intersection searches and will include all the new streets, also a part of a joint project with the United States Geological Survey (USGS),” Sullivan said.

DCS Announces New Online Vendor Registration Shoes, tires, produce, paper, computers, and vehicles are among items the state needs for its daily operation. Thousands of businesses would like to be partners with the government. Until recently, vendors interested in doing business with the State have needed to search daily for bid announcements on DCS' Web site. Oklahoma now provides easy access for these vendors to be notified about business opportunities with the State. For a statutory fee of $25.00 per commodity, vendors buy peace of mind and also save time, because they are notified via e-mail of any solicitations fitting their profile. Previous methodology was based on a multiple exchange of forms between vendor and State. The new system makes registering easy; it validates data immediately as it is being entered and allows vendors to view and register for over 200 state-needed commodities. Everyone registered has equal opportunity and access to information. Users are able to pay online via Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit card, or by electronic funds transfer. Online data entry and transactions are processed through OK.gov's secure payment server. "We have waited for this solution for vendor registration for a long time and it is finally here" said Betty Cairns, State Purchasing Director. "We are excited that the Department of Central Services is able to provide this convenience for private entities and also save resources on operations in the public system." |
