State Health Department Launches Redesigned Web site
The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has launched a new redesigned Web site with a focus on creating a one-stop public health information center for the citizens of Oklahoma.  The redesigned Web site replaces the agency’s old Web site using the services of OK.gov, the state’s official Web site.

“We are excited about the potential services this new redesigned Web site will allow us to provide the citizens of Oklahoma,” said Secretary of Health and Commissioner of Health Dr. Mike Crutcher.

The newly designed OSDH Public Health Information Portal offers a more professional Web presence to the public with many new and improved user-friendly features including the following:

• User-oriented navigation system helping citizens find what they need quickly.
• Improved search engine function through OK.gov’s Google search application.
• Print and e-mail buttons on Web pages for quicker processing of information.
• Improved graphics and cleaner layout enhancing readability and promoting a consistent look and feel throughout the site. 

Upcoming features of the OSDH Public Health Information Portal will include credit card payment modules that will allow citizens the ability to pay for many health department services online.

Department of Human Services Offers Variety of Online Services
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) Web site offers a variety of interactive services that allow businesses and citizens to interact with their agency online. The most recent online services include: 

• Volunteerism Services- Help Oklahomans in need by giving and sharing your time and talents through the OKDHS Office of Volunteerism. This online service enables visitors to sign up to be a volunteer through OKDHS and register to make donations through the Department. 
• Child Care Locator/Summary of Facility Monitoring- Citizens can search for quality child care in their area or review summaries of monitoring reports of Oklahoma child care facilities.
• Foster Care Information Request- Visitors can make an online request for information about the OKDHS Foster Care program or get information about how to become a foster parent.

“OKDHS is keenly aware of the importance of using the Web site as a vital communications tool and a way for people to conduct business with the agency,” said George Johnson, Director of Communications. “We understand that the Web site is truly a front door to the world. The services highlighted here and on OKDHS.org are part of breaking down the digital divide between the public and government and are an extension of our mission of helping individuals and families in need help themselves lead safer, healthier, more independent and productive lives.”

City of Tonkawa Launches Online Bill Pay
Conducting business with the city of Tonkawa is now faster and more convenient. City of Tonkawa residents and businesses now have the ability to securely pay license fees, utility bills, ambulance charges and police citations online.

"We are so pleased to unveil our new online bill pay system to the citizens and businesses of Tonkawa," said Deborah Miner, City Clerk/Treasurer. "We strive to provide user-friendly methods to transact business with the city over the Internet, resulting in convenience, fast access to information, and increased productivity for our city staff."  

Visa and MasterCard payments can be made 24 hours a day and are processed through OK.gov’s secure payment engine. The city of Tonkawa is the first local government entity to utilize OK.gov to process payments over the Internet. OK.gov abides by rigorous policies and procedures to safeguard all personal information, such as banking information and personal data. This ensures that residents and businesses can be confident that their payments are safe, private, and secure.

Department of Wildlife Seeking Entries for Photo Contest
The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) is calling on Oklahoma sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts for entries in the annual Outdoor Oklahoma Reader’s Photography Showcase Contest.

Any Oklahoman with a digital camera and an interest in the outdoors is eligible to see their work published in this year's Showcase Edition of Outdoor Oklahoma magazine. Submissions are being accepted through March 31, and winners will have their work featured in the July/August 2008 issue. 

Each participant may submit up to five digital images and must include a description of the photo, including the location taken, names and hometowns of subjects and what it took to get just the right shot. Photos should be in sharp focus, and images should be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch). The canvas size should be about 8 inches by 11 inches. Slides and print images will not be accepted. Hopeful photographers can e-mail their entries to photoshowcase@odwc.state.ok.us. 

“We are encouraging everybody who enjoys the outdoors in Oklahoma to make a submission this year,” said Nels Rodefeld, editor of Outdoor Oklahoma. “Photos can be of anything related to the outdoor heritage in Oklahoma, such as shots of wildlife, birds, insects, landscape and people enjoying hunting and angling trips or even watching bird feeders in their own backyards. We just want to see how people participate in the outdoors in Oklahoma.” 

Although Outdoor Oklahoma encourage readers to submit images including a variety of outdoor-related subjects, the magazine has been focusing on “faces in the outdoors” to show hunters, anglers, kids and other outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the outdoors.
