CAFR Report for FY 2012 Depicts Oklahoma as State on the Move

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma's emergence as one of the economic bright spots in the nation is depicted in the Fiscal Year 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) now available on the website of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES.OK.gov).

The report provides a complete accounting of state government finances and fiscal practices and documents Oklahoma's continued dramatic recovery over the past two years from the Great Recession.

That economic rebound featured robust growth in manufacturing jobs and an oil patch resurgence spurred by new technology.

The 2012 CAFR includes a "transmittal letter" to Gov. Mary Fallin, signed by OMES Director Preston L.  Doerflinger, which states:

"Oklahoma has long been a good place to live and work because of its friendly people, low cost of living and ample recreational opportunities. Now it is firmly in the top tier of states whose economies are expanding and the outlook for the future is better than ever, barring another sharp national downturn."

The letter to the governor, also signed by State Comptroller Lynne Bajema, takes note of the state's improving financial position during the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2012. General Revenue Fund collections far exceeded the official estimate in FY-2012, leading to record deposits totaling $328.3 million into the constitutional Rainy Day Fund.
