RAMSEY PRESENTS TO CAP SEMINAR
June 5, 2013
Real Estate and Leasing Services (REALS) recently participated in the "Doing Business with CAP" seminar on June 5, 2013 held by the Construction and Properties Department (CAP), Division of Capital Assets Management (DCAM) of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES).
The presentation by Jennifer Ramsey, real property manager for REALS, began with an overview of the services provided to state agencies including the acquisition of lease space, contract management, easements, purchase of real property, sale or transfer of real property and surface leases.
Ramsey also spoke about the first annual comprehensive Oklahoma Real Property Asset Report developed by REALS. The report details all real properties owned or leased by the state and included a link to an interactive database, giving open access to all the state agencies and its citizens.
"Ever since we finished this report we have been working to improve it, such as identifying how we can make it easier for agencies to report the information," she said.
REALS identified Risk Management's CS STARS software as a solution and is currently reconciling their data into the system. Agencies have been using the system for some time now for their risk needs, which means most should be familiar with how it works, which is a benefit. The system will provide user friendly navigation and will allow REALS to configure a number of custom fields to capture additional information.
"The data consolidation project is a win-win situation for all involved. It will unify the data, allow the departments to have access to real-time updates from the agencies themselves, cut down on the time and number of surveys sent to the agencies, and allow us to capture even more detail which will result in better data analysis," Ramsey said.
